Residential Properties Ltd. is extremely proud to acknowledge Broker Associate Holly Applegate, who recently wrote, sang, staged, and performed in her own one-woman show, “The Songbook of My Life,” to raise money for The Boys and Girls Club of Northern RI. Performed at The Music Mansion at 88 Meeting Street, Providence on September 30 to a sold-out audience, the event raised over $5,700 for the organization. Holly, former longtime manager of RPL’s Cumberland office and today a member of Team Applegate, the husband-and-wife collaboration of Holly and Bill Applegate, put this show together in memory of Sara Laboissionniere, the daughter of friend and former RPL agent Arlene Laboissionniere. A kind-hearted, 25-year-old woman and 2020 graduate of Rhode Island College, Sara was tragically killed on February 13, 2023 by an intoxicated driver in a vehicle accident.
“I dedicated the performance to Arlene and Sara with all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of Northern RI,” Applegate noted. “Among her many fine qualities, Sara was a talented health and fitness coach, which is why we felt that having 100% of ticket sales going to Boys and Girls Club of Northern RI would be a fitting tribute in honor of this warm, giving person. In Sara’s memory, local children will now be able to attend summer sports camps, sports leagues, training camps, and more, at no cost to them.”
Featuring Holly’s renditions of songs from musicals such as “The Sound of Music” and “Oliver!,” as well as classics by Gershwin and Sondheim, the evening was a melodic walk through Holly’s life. Directed by Eden Casteel with musical accompaniment by the Eden Casteel Trio, the performance brought to life Holly’s memories, loves, passions, and humor through her favorite songs, many of which she has performed as a talented actress and singer in prior theatrical productions at The Players.
The event was also a family affair with ongoing support, encouragement, and backrubs from life and business partner Bill Applegate, as well as special appearances in the show by son Austin, on guitar, daughter Burgundy, nephew Stoddard Blackall, and daughter Brecken also in attendance. In addition, many of Holly’s RPL colleagues were there to enjoy this evening of heartfelt tribute and uplifting performance.
Holly was Manager of RPL’s Cumberland office for 24 years before she and Bill decided to embark upon a real estate partnership. This personal and professional closeness earned them a 2020 and 2021 Circle of Sales Excellence Gold Award and a Silver award in 2022.
