Residential Properties Ltd. is excited to announce that Sales Associate Lydia Flaherty has joined the superb roster of agents at our Barrington office. Originally from Millis, MA, Lydia moved to Barrington with her family in 2018 and returned to the area to live after graduating from UMass Amherst last May. In addition to her degree in kinesiology with a minor in education, she has established impeccable customer service skills in Rhode Island’s restaurant industry, serving as a front-of-house manager at Bluewater Bar and Grill in Barrington and as a bartender at Waterdog Kitchen and Bar in Warren.
Family business and pleasure
Her deep connection to the East Bay dates back to childhood, spending summers on Hog Island where today her family owns more than 12 properties. Lydia's great-great grandparents began summering there over 100 years ago and the tradition continues to this day. “Growing up in MA and RI, I have come to love all of the charming towns, communities, and energy that seems to radiate from being close to all things New England,” Flaherty said. “Proximity to Boston, the mountains, and the ocean allows for spectacular living. I love Rhode Island’s coastal grandeur and picturesque farmland, which combines to create a unique feeling of serenity.”
She is the daughter of RPL Sales Associate Kathleen Flaherty, from whom Lydia learned her client-first mindset. Having witnessed her mother’s journey not only into real estate, but also into Residential Properties, Lydia was able to get a front-row preview of her new career. “Seeing my mother join RPL, I consistently heard about the supportive and hardworking environment the company fosters,” Flaherty noted. “Residential is a well-established, successful, respected brokerage that I am lucky to be a part of”.
Like mother, like Realtor®
Though she now begins her real estate career, Lydia is still engaged with community-focused causes, which have included Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Gillette Stadium’s Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer. As summer approaches, she will look forward to continuing her family’s traditions with her cousins and grandparents on Hog Island, especially boating, kayaking, quahogging, and swimming.
As a committed professional, Lydia has made it her mission to be an invaluable resource for her clients. Working with first-time buyers as well as anyone with changing needs, she is ready to help guide and support people through the real estate process. “I’m excited to establish my own name in the MA and RI real estate markets,” Flaherty added. “I know what it’s like to have a dream, and helping my clients reach their real estate goals is now my biggest ambition.”
