Residential Properties Ltd. is excited to announce that Sales Associate Emily Thompson has joined the superb team of real estate professionals at RPL’s Cumberland office. From a young age, Emily was drawn to real estate. She helped her grandparents manage and work their rental properties and was always intrigued to see the different ways people live. She spent her college summers taking care of seasonal homes in Watch Hill and Weekapaug while earning her degree from the University of Rhode Island majoring in textiles, merchandising, and design, with a focus on interior design.
Rooted in RI real estate
Emily was born and raised in South County and eventually purchased a home in the same town she grew up in. Not only is she an expert in this special area of the state, but she also knows the desirable, rural living experiences the region has to offer, including the beautiful coastlines just a short drive away. “I am now raising my own children here and am doing so amongst so many people I grew up with,” Thompson said. “They love it here too, in part because of the great people in our communities.” Emily previously worked in human resources for an RI-based music industry products company. Diligent and with a big-picture mindset, she oversaw the entire employee lifecycle and practiced her relationship-building skills within talent recruitment and staff training programs. She eventually made the transition to a role as full-time mother, but Emily still nursed an ambition to one day help people purchase and sell their homes.
Today, Emily is combining her love of homes and of Rhode Island into a new career. “I value the seasonality of living in New England and all that there is to do,” Thompson added. “Rhode Island is such a special place with so much to offer. You can easily spend a day in the city, escape to the coast, hike wooded preserves, visit and shop local farms, and take day trips to nearby New England states.” After earning her real estate license, Emily sought the right agency to partner with. In the end, it was Residential Properties' strong focus on community that won her over. “Outstanding community presence and philanthropy are important to me,” Thompson noted. “From my experience in H.R., I know how important relationships are in business – whether it’s charitable endeavors or mentorship programs for new Realtors®, RPL knows that people are critically important.”
All coming together
With talents as an organizer, a people person, and an engaged citizen, Emily lives her credo by helping to serve on the board for her son's nonprofit school. She organizes fundraisers, coordinates family/student events, and performs other vital services to empower teachers to build a solid foundation for childhood learning. When she can find time outside of her professional commitments, Emily enjoys spending it with her family. From attending sporting events or working on a home construction project, her family is always learning and doing together.
Her new career is taking on a central role as she begins setting and achieving her goals. Emily looks forward to finding the right people and properties, then matching them all together. “I want to find people places that they can call home and enjoy,” Thompson said. “Home is the center of all things for most people, and I understand how significant these decisions can be. I also look forward to meeting many new people and expanding my network of buyers and sellers.”
