Residential Properties Ltd. is pleased to announce the addition of Sales Associate Brian Souza to the team of real estate professionals at RPL’s Newport office. Brian is a lifelong Rhode Islander and a native of Aquidneck Island. A graduate of Bryant University, he found a love for historical preservation while working for the John Brown Museum in Providence, where he developed a keen eye for modern and historic homes.
New paths
Brian’s appreciation of The Ocean State continues to grow. He often enjoys taking his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lady, on walks around Newport and Colt State Park. He is also a self-described foodie who takes culinary adventures on historic Federal Hill and throughout Westerly and Newport. “I love the rich history and traditions of Rhode Island, but also love that there is always something new happening, always something going on within our small state,” Souza said. “I think it can surprise locals and newcomers alike just how much there is to do. There is also much to discover in the area’s diversity of architecture and home design from historical to new construction.”
Real estate has always been a passion and keen interest for Brian, even throughout his time at Bryant studying HR management. Having gained a different perspective on work in the past few years, he felt ready to make the move into this new career path. “With the pandemic, I, like many others, saw that life is short and that you should never not follow your passion,” Souza noted. “So, I reevaluated my goals, decided what really makes me happy, and pinpointed what drove my passion.” As a native to RI, he knew of RPL’s reputation and its recognition as a top-performing brand and industry leader. When he earned his license, he was eager to learn more and see if the company shared his values. “I wanted to start my career with a local company that had roots in the state, not just another national company that’s missing the personal touch RPL offers,” Souza said. “I loved that RPL is not only client centered and client driven, but also is a proponent of ongoing education and stresses the importance of continuous improvement.”
Changing lives
Community is another of Brian's focuses. During his career at Bryant, he served as a board member for Bryant Pride and earned the Emerging Leader Award in recognition of his LGBTQ+ advocacy work. He is currently a proud member of both the Newport Preservation Society and the Newport Historical Society, through which he attains invaluable knowledge and relationships. “I love the endless potential real estate has to offer to everyone, whether you’re buying, selling, or leasing,” Souza noted. “It has the possibility to change someone's entire life.”
As he kicks off his new career, Brian looks forward to meeting new people and helping them navigate the complexities of real estate. Working with first-time buyers as well as anyone with changing needs, he is ready to help guide and support clients through selling or buying a home. “I’m eager to get even more involved in the community and explore all that Rhody has to offer,” Souza adds. “My goal is to provide smart solutions for my clients so that they can find their ideal home.”
