Residential Properties Ltd. is excited to announce that Sales Associate Monica Sye has joined the superb roster of agents at our Cumberland office. Monica is a first-generation Cape Verdean American, the daughter of a real estate investor, and a native Rhode Islander born and raised in Providence. Having grown up in the business, she started her career path as a maternal-child registered nurse after completing a BSN from Rhode Island College in 2006. Her years in this intensely focused patient care role made her a dedicated and trusted professional, who now applies the same qualities of accountability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to her real estate clients.
Investing in a new career
Her journey into real estate began after she transitioned from nursing to raising her children. The needs of a growing family allowed Monica to experience the purchasing and selling of her own homes, which soon ignited her interest in real estate. “After our experiences on the client side, my husband and I began to invest in real estate properties,” Sye said. “When I was ready to return to working outside of my home, I knew real estate was the perfect fit for me.” Today she proudly serves buyers and sellers throughout RI, Norfolk County, MA, and Southeastern MA. She is an active member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS®, the Rhode Island Association of REALTORS®, and the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS®.
Returning to the workforce after raising her children, Monica was interested in building her business close to home. She took the time to research and understand what each brokerage had to offer not only herself, but her clients. “Growing up in the business alongside my father, I had always remembered Residential Properties Ltd. as being a very distinctive and prominent RI-based business and brand,” Sye noted. “After having the opportunity to speak with one of their local agents and a broker, I knew that the company's core values of hard work, community involvement, investing in relationships, and creative marketing all lined up with how I wanted to run and grow my business.”
Investing in relationships
Monica takes pride in giving back to the community she loves. She serves as the PTO Fundraiser Coordinator in a local elementary and middle school and volunteers as an instructor/aide in her local parish's religious education program. “I’ve always loved growing up in New England and feel very fortunate to be able to raise my family here,” Sye added. “From lazy summer days spent at Rhode Island's brilliant coast of amazing beaches, to the rich variety in food and culture, to year-round festivals and events, there’s just so much to experience.”
Monica resides in Attleboro with her husband of 15 years, their three boys, and their Miniature Schnauzer named Loki. All three of her children are honor roll students with busy schedules centered on athletic pursuits. When not rooting for her boys, Monica enjoys ballet, bowling, camping, and traveling to favorite destinations, including the Cape Verde Islands, Portugal, Jamaica, France, and Switzerland. With her sights set on her professional future, she looks forward to finding novel ways to serve her customers. “I am excited about gradually expanding my client base as a member of the Residential Properties team,” Sye said. “As the real estate business continues to evolve, I hope to stay up to date on all the latest law and policy changes, technical advances, and marketing strategies to provide my clients the best in representation.”
