Residential Properties Ltd. is pleased to announce the addition of Sales Associate Joseph Costa to the superb team of professionals at our recently opened Newport office. Joseph was born and raised in Seekonk, MA. He graduated from Bishop Connolly High School and earned his degree in business and sociology from Providence College. Having lived throughout the East Coast, from Quebec to Wellington, FL, Joe has learned that New England has a uniqueness and warmth like no other place. It perfectly suits his particular love of the ocean, having competed in sailing at the international level. “Sailing, boating, or anything related to water is my sweet spot,” Costa said. “Rhode Island’s proximity to New York and Boston and its well-rounded diversity also help make it the place I choose to call home.”
Entrepreneurial mindset
Joseph has an extensive background in early stage enterprises, having built a successful company by the age of 25, serving in sales and marketing roles in high-tech startups. Joe is an experienced marketer and sales manager who applies his eclectic background and iconoclastic thinking to create helpful solutions for clients. Founder of the Play It Forward consulting group, Joseph has worked with companies such as Avon, Mars, Inc., and Tyra (Banks) Beauty to strategize growth opportunities.
During this period, Joseph met RPL CEO Sally Lapides, an experience which stayed with him through his own journey into real estate. “When I think about real estate and Rhode Island, the first brand that comes to mind is Residential Properties,” Costa noted. “Sally is like the Barbara Corcoran of Rhode Island. Not only is she brilliant, driven, and successful, she is also charitable, generous, and a kind person. RPL invests in their agents and celebrates their successes, which creates the perfect conditions for helping clients reach their goals.”
Artistic direction
When not at home or on the water in Newport, Joseph is also a recording artist with the musical act Joe Costa and Kikazaru. He performed at age 11 in the Rhode Island Youth Philharmonic and went on to work in jazz ensembles, reggae bands, and rock groups. He is also known to spend winters cross-country skiing, as a former coach of college skiing teams. His coaching abilities, combined with his marketing and sales management experience make him ideal for helping clients looking to innovate and invest imagination in their home search.
Aside from his professional experience, Joseph loves architecture, design, art, and creating inviting spaces. He has bought, renovated, and sold 14 luxury homes throughout the Eastern Seaboard, including Montreal, Lake Placid, Bristol, RI, and Wellington, FL. The competitive drive which fueled much of his consulting and business endeavors has also given him the ability to see the opportunity in a home to make it beautiful. He looks forward to sharing this talent with a range of buyers and sellers. “I’m ready to begin doing what I’ve always wanted to do,” Costa said. “I want to help people find, market, and sell their dream homes.”
