Residential Properties Ltd is excited to announce that Sales Associate Joseph Petrarca has joined the excellent team of real estate professionals at our East Greenwich office. A Rhode Island native, Joseph was born in Providence and raised in West Warwick, attending its public schools. After receiving a degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, he worked as a police officer for 23 years, with his last duty serving as the Officer-In-Charge of the Professional Standards Division (PSD) for the Warwick Police Department.
Police Captain becomes captain of industry
The division Joseph supervised was responsible for handling internal affairs investigations, training, recruitment, and accreditation for the agency. Having attained the rank of Captain, he wanted to serve the community in a different way, by pursuing a career in real estate. “What I’ve learned as a police officer is that showing empathy and respect for others in difficult times will more often than not be reciprocated,” Petrarca said. “I’ve always tried to live by the motto, ‘Treat others how you want to be treated.’ This approach allows me to convey my genuine concern for others and effectively mediate contentious moments.”
From the first time Joseph spoke with COO, Libby Isaacson, he appreciated the welcoming atmosphere at RPL, having a similar experience with East Greenwich office Broker Manager, Michele Caprio. “RPL is a premier regional brand that provides its clients with superior marketing and professionalism among its agents,” noted Petrarca. “Its mentorship program was another key factor in my decision. I wanted to work where there would be support and assistance, because if I’m given the chance to succeed, I’ll be able to provide a higher level of service.”
To serve and protect clients
Joseph resides in East Greenwich with previous short stays in Exeter and Newport while attending college. He loves to experience Rhode Island’s four seasons and relishes its proximity to New York City, Boston, and attractions throughout northern New England. “Rhode Island provides a great quality of life for residents with its scenic coastlines and institutions for higher learning,” Petrarca added. “And let’s not forget the fantastic restaurants we have!”
When not concentrating on work, Joseph enjoys spending time with his wife Sheri, two boys, two cats, and their rescue dog from Louisiana, Willow, whom he calls, “Queen of the House.” When not helping his boys with little league baseball or hockey, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, staying active, and doing DIY projects around the house. This includes painting, light carpentry, and landscaping, bonus skills among his existing set of abilities he plans to use to assist clients. “My strongest traits are that I bring professionalism, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and commitment to serving others, whether they’re clients or potential clients,” Petrarca said. “My goal is to continuously self-improve and educate myself, so that I can provide the best possible customer service.”
