Residential Properties Ltd. is pleased to announce the addition of Sales Associate Dave Hackett to our West Side of Providence office.
Dave is a native Rhode Islander, raised in the Garden Hills section of Cranston. After attending New York’s Fordham University, he moved to Chicago to work in advertising and, ultimately, real estate. Dave returned to The Ocean State in 2015, earning his Rhode Island real estate licence the following year. His fondness for his home state and its charm remained throughout his absence. “There is a rich and vibrant culture, with each area having a unique vibe,” Hackett said. “Foster-Glocester might feel like it’s a few hundred miles from Newport, yet it’s less than an hour away.” Dave’s career began as a rental broker in Chicago at the height of the 2009 recession. He credits this with developing his qualities of patience and perseverance.
An admiration for quality
Dave’s decision to join RPL came through a careful consideration of its distinctive characteristics. As with all Realtors®, his aim was success, but he sought an organization that shared his core values. “I saw agents I admire and respect join RPL. Over time, I heard many good things about the company's ownership,” Hackett said. “Kindness and a competitive edge need not be mutually exclusive.”
His business and sales volume has grown exponentially over the past four years. He hopes to continue that trend as he joins the RPL family. “Being connected to so many of the most professional and experienced agents is a tremendous benefit,” Hackett said.
A lifetime love of homes
Dave’s interest in houses presented itself in childhood. Around the age of 10, he began watching “This Old House” on PBS, and looking at real estate ads in The Providence Journal. “I was intrigued by the different styles of houses, many in my neighborhood being mid-century modern, with some from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries,” Hackett said. His love of homes and construction led to his career today, along with hobbies as an amateur carpenter and mason. Dave is experienced in selling a variety of properties, including historic homes on the East Side, loft condominiums in North Providence, and beach houses in Narragansett and Newport.
When not helping others find their ideal home, Dave continues work on renovating and restoring his 1935 Cape style property in the Auburn section of Cranston. He looks forward to throwing a house and garden party in the post-COVID future. Dave is a fundraising co-chair for Historic New England Trust and Casey Farm in North Kingstown; and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Saint Mary Academy - Bay View in East Providence.
