Rhode Island is one of the best places in the country to celebrate Halloween. The history — both normal and paranormal — perfectly accents the eeriness of the month, while the changing leaves cover everything in those idyllic shades of red, orange, brown, and yellow. The shorter days may mean the coming of winter soon, but for now, we can all bask in how they help to highlight the jack-o-lanterns and give us hours of darkness to explore haunted locations.
If you are looking for that ideal location to visit this Halloween season, here is a list of just a few places and ideas that only make our little state that much better:
Ghost Tours

Ghost Tours perfectly show off both sides of history in Newport and Providence, two of the state’s and country’s oldest and most historic places. Guides will walk you through the streets showing off distinguished homes with some shady pasts, or in Providence, you can even enjoy a guided boat tour that will take you down the river as your host regales you with tales.

Haunted Houses

If you prefer something more physical and in your face with your haunted house then Rhode Island has many to choose from. Field of Screams, Factory of Terror, and Fortress of Nightmares are just some of the haunted attractions in the area. There are even some that don’t begin with the letter F. All offer a variety of sordid and frightening paths filled with monsters and horrors around every corner.

Scary Acres along with a few other farms provide haunted, nighttime corn mazes giving you even more of a challenge than simply navigating your way through the stalks.
