RPL Completes Sale of Barrington’s Historic Chapin-Waldron House

  Residential Properties Ltd. recently completed the sale of the historic Joshua B. Chapin/David A. Waldron House in Barrington for $965,000. The listing was represented by Residential Properties Ltd. Sales Associates Elizabeth Kirk and Lisa Schryver - both members of RPL’s Barrington office. Originally built in 1858, this signature home showcases historic architectural details and rests on over an acre of land within the seaside neighborhood of Alfred Drowne. Chapin was a prominent doctor in Providence and the original owner of the house. After losing his hearing, he abandoned his practice and went on to establish Chapin & Thurber, Providence’s first apothecary, and Manchester & Chapin, an early photography studio. Waldron was a real estate developer who was responsible for the construction of most of the homes in Drownville. Waldron was also a library trustee and was an active member of the Antiquarian Society, Congregational church, and the YMCA. The property includes a beautiful Birch Tree said to have been planted on the very first Arbor Day in 1872.
