The Nayatt 5k is an annual event to support Nayatt School in Barrington that includes both a 5k and 1-mile race. The scenic 5k course proceeds through Barrington’s residential streets in the Rumstick neighborhood, including a portion along the water. This year marked the 12th annual running and Residential Properties was proud to continue its support of the race. A streak of bad weather luck had dampened the festivities the previous three years, but 2018 brought cool and crisp weather for the event. 562 runners registered from all age groups to run in one or both of the races, families ran together, some ran with strollers, and a very happy four-legged friend even completed the 5k.
This year’s Race Director was our very own Claudia Maiorana, who works out of our Barrington office. Not only did Claudia coordinate the event, but she ran it herself posting an impressive time. When asked about why she loves this event Claudia spoke about her passion for running, her family, and the community. “I love that it combines me being able to give back to my son’s school and being part of the community here. Also just doing things like running, which is something I love, and helping to foster that in the next generation. I know these kids, some of them are fast, and when they get older they’re going to be representing us when they come to high school age.” In addition to the 5k and 1-mile races, kids enjoyed face painting, a photo booth, a giant inflatable slide, and 50-yard dash fun runs. Families were also able to enjoy plenty of food and snacks from the different vendors or enter into the raffle to win a basket made by the Nayatt School classes. Everyone had a good time and can’t wait for next year’s race.
