10 Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day This Year

Travel + Leisure  magazine recently released a list of the 20 most romantic cities in the country with our Creative Capital landing at number 12. With a capital city rich with history, culture, entertainment, fine dining, and the arts – there is plenty to do in Providence and throughout the state to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  There are also a  few family-friendly activities as well for those of you with kids to entertain.  

Free Family Fun Day – Audubon Environmental Education Center, Bristol – Saturday, February 4 @ 9am-5pm

Learn more about our feathered friends and do some fun crafts too! Families can make a bird-seed valentine, create an eco-friendly bird feeder, and get up-close and personal with an owl. No registration required – just show up! More info here.  

Dinner for Two (or more!) – Simone’s Restaurant, Warren – Monday, February 6 @ 6:30pm

Spend an evening with celebrated New England chef Joe Simone where he’ll teach you to cook for your Valentine. Participants will learn to make crackers with grated beets and goat cheese, crabmeat and avocado salad with horseradish and crème fraîche, sustainably raised veal stew with hot buttered spaetzle, and baked-to-order chocolate pudding. The event is $60 and includes demonstration, recipes, tastes, and wine.  

The Caribbean Soul Duo in concert – Weaver Library, East Providence – Monday, February 6 @ 7-8pm

We all could use a little escape from the winter weather. This free event is perfect for your Valentine – even if it’s a few days early! The Caribbean Soul Duo will play R&B, jazz, soul, reggae, pop, and soca.  

Heart Smart – Providence Children’s Museum, Providence – Saturday, February 11 & Sunday, February 12 @ 11am-2pm

The Providence Children’s Museum wants you to celebrate Valentine’s Day with some heart healthy fun. Kids test their heart rates, learn all about the heart, and more! This event is recommended for kids ages five and up. Admission is $9 and free for babies under 12 months and Museum Members.  

5th Annual Frostbite Bash – Herreshoff Marine Museum, Bristol – Saturday, February 11 @ 6:30-11pm

Dance the night away to live music in the historic Hall of Boats at the Frostbite Bash! The party includes full open bars, food tastings, a silent auction, and photo booth. Tickets start at $65 and can be purchased on the event website.  

Aurea Presents: Liebeslied/Love Song – St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Providence, Saturday, February 11 @ 7-9:30pm

Spend a romantic, intimate evening at this “rare gem” from Aurea, only once performed in 2011. This performance draws from songs, chamber music, and letters from Clara & Robert Schumann. General admission tickets are $30 and can be purchased here.  

Dinner with the Queen of Hearts – REVEL factory, Pawtucket – Saturday, February 11 @ 8-10:30pm

Want to do something different to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Treat your Valentine like royalty! This seated immersive theater experience by TEN31 Productions is an elegant three course dinner with delicious food and wine pairings by Russell Morin Catering & Events. Tickets start at $100 and can be purchased on the event website.  

Valentine’s Day 7-Course Dinner – The Duck and Bunny, Providence – Tuesday, February 14 @ 6/6:30 & 8/8:30 & 10pm

Enjoy seven delicious courses including appetizers, artisanal cheese plates, and desserts. Reservations are required for dinner and are $125 per couple. Virginia is for Lovers Wine Dinner – The Coast Guard House Restaurant, Narragansett – Friday, February 17

Enjoy a five course menu paired with wine from Barboursville Winery in Virginia. The dinner is $59 per person and reservations are required.  

21st Annual Wineter Fest – Newport Vineyards, Middletown – Saturday, February 18 & Sunday, February 19 @ 12-5pm
