This Saturday, November 5, the Woonsocket Museum of Work and Culture is hosting the Driftwood II -- Love, Light, Hope Fundraiser from 6-9pm, benefitting the Rhode Island Alzheimer's Association. RPL's own Sandy Soares of our Cumberland office is part of the planning committee for the event. The cause is near and dear to Soares' heart, as her own godfather passed recently after a 10 year struggle with the disease. There are 5 million Americans currently suffering from Alzheimer's, with someone being diagnosed every 72 seconds. Soares notes that by 2050, Alzheimer's is expected to be the leading cause of death in America. While there is presently no cure, scientists believe one will be discovered in the next 10 years. You can help fund this important research by joining Soares for an evening of art, music, dance and food. There will be an art exhibit by artist Paul Cote in addition to music by Antonio Forte, a performance by the State Ballet of RI, portrait sketching and more. Food will be provided by Julian's Restaurant. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at DriftwoodII.brownpapertickets.com.Alzheimer's Association Fundraiser Held on November 5
