The Scoop on Rhode Island Ice Cream

While summer is (supposedly) coming to an  end, the weather doesn't seem to have gotten the memo. Don't worry though - we've got you covered. We've compiled a list of our favorite ice cream spots throughout Lil Rhody (and nearby MA) to help you cool off when outside is too hot hot hot! The Daily Scoop in Barrington has been open since June 2000 and prides themselves on making "good homemade super premium ice cream." Aside from making  ice cream, they also make  smoothies and delicious ice cream cakes. They're open seasonally  in their Barrington and Bristol shop locations, but they also sell pints in supermarkets across Rhode Island, nearby Southeastern Massachusetts, and Connecticut.  230 County Road,  Barrington. Set on a dock overlooking Bristol Harbor,  the folks at Gray's Ice Cream have been making homemade ice cream since 1923. The Bristol location is seasonal and open from April-September while their main store in Tiverton - where the ice cream is made - is open year round.  259 Thames Street, Bristol. Set in rural Exeter, the Next To Nowhere Ice Cream shop calls themselves "a treat in the wilderness!" Their creamy ice cream is made by Gifford's in Maine and they offer 20 hard ice cream and 30 soft serve flavors. They also have Dole Whip for those who are  lactose intolerant.  230 Nooseneck Hill Road, Exeter. Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown  serves award-winning Susanna’s Ice Cream and Sorbet that's handmade right on Sweet Berry Farm using local ingredients and in-season fruit whenever possible.  915 Mitchell’s Lane, Middletown.

Nana's Gelato has five locations across Newport  County including  three shops in Narragansett. Nana's has 50  flavors of ice cream as well as fifty toppings to go along with them including creamy italian gelato, hard ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sugar free ice cream.  Pier Market Place and  250 Sand Hill Cove Road, Narragansett.  Voted New England's #1 Homemade Ice Cream, the family owned  Ice Cream Machine in Cumberland  has been making delicious frozen treats since 1977 and is always a popular summertime spot.   4288 Diamond Hill Rd, Cumberland. Holy Cow's homemade ice cream in Charlestown is truly a heavenly experience. There's something for everyone - even your furry pal! If you bring your dog they'll give you an edible bowl, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a dog treat to top it off!  5000 South County Trail,  Charlestown. The family-owned Inside Scoop  in  North Kingstown has been serving excellent homemade ice cream since 2001. They use the highest quality ingredients and have top-notch customer service. With over 64 flavors, the Inside Scoop is a great spot to check out before the end of summer.  30 Ten Rod Rd, North Kingstown. While it's not technically located in Rhode Island, the Ice Cream Barn in Swansea, MA is pretty darn close - just a few miles from Warren. All the delicious ice cream is made right on  Baker Farm using the resident cows. The milk goes from Baker Farm to Winsor SB Dairy and is then pasteurized, homogenized and brought back to the Ice Cream Barn and made into ice cream. They also use locally grown ingredients from their farmer friends.  289 Locust Street,  Swansea, MA.
