Each year, the Providence Preservation Society hosts a Festival of Historic Houses, welcoming visitors to tour a collection of exclusive residences showcasing private gardens and unique architectural styles. This year, the festival will feature over a dozen historic homes and gardens along northern Benefit Street. These properties are rarely open to the public, so this event is perfect for the history buff or anyone wanting to learn a little more about our Capital City. View the map below for a complete list of tour destinations. The Festival will be held on Saturday, June 11, and will display a variety of architectural styles such as late-colonial-era and early Federal-style work. The tour will also include late 18th century and early 19th century architectural features and trim, as well as Victorian design elements, and Colonial Revival additions - according to the event website. This year's Festival is an extra special one, as the Providence Preservation Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Since 1956, the PPS has been preserving historic architecture and working to improve the city of Providence. Residential Properties Ltd. is a proud supporter of all the work PPS has done - and continues to do - and we hope you'll support them too!
