Technology can be great for simplifying and organizing the home buying or selling process from beginning to end. Smartphone apps are a perfect resource to utilize, and I’ve put together a list of five free apps to start with that you can download right from the app store. Let’s make 2016 the year where we utilize the technologies available to make everyone’s life just a little bit simpler.
1. DotLoop. When buying and selling a property, there are many moving parts and multiple parties involved. A handy transaction solution like DotLoop helps everyone stay on the same page at all times. DotLoop promises to help you “work better together, everywhere”–now with a handy app that allows you to create loops, collaborate in the online workspace, assign signatures, start and track conversations, and manage tasks and progresses. The app is also compatible with apps like Mail and Dropbox, allowing you to easily create and load documents.
2. Dropbox. Speaking of Dropbox, Dropbox is a file hosting service that allows users to securely upload and share large files such as photos, documents, and videos. It’s an easy way to organize your files in one place, and solves the problem of sending a document that’s too large to email, or if you have multiple files to email out at a time. Users can even send large files to users that don’t have Dropbox themselves. The app allows users to create and edit Microsoft Office files from your phone, automatically backup photos and videos, share links to your largest files without email attachments, and access your files offline.
3. Keynote. Presentations are a great tool to organize and explain information–whether it’s via computer, tablet or smartphone, visuals make it easy to explain information to clients in an understandable, organized way. Keynote is a great resource and works seamlessly between Mac and iOS devices…and also exports to Microsoft PowerPoint.
4. Google apps. Google offers a plethora of tools to make your life easier and more productive. Google Maps is a popular alternative to a standard GPS, known for its accuracy, and also has traffic updates. Most Americans nowadays have Gmail, but not many utilize the Google Hangouts feature–which allows you to group chat, make free voice and video calls, and transition between your laptop and phone with ease.
5. RIMLS. Did you know there’s a RIMLS app? State-Wide Multiple Listing Service launched its own app to be utilized by real estate agents and future home buyers here in the Ocean State. Agents can communicate with their clients in the app, and an interactive map searching feature shows listings around you or a location you enter. Find property details and search for a house by location, number of rooms, and other search filters. It also has GPS!
What do you think? Do you have any favorite apps that make real estate just a little easier? Tell us in the comments!
