Congratulations to Residential Properties Ltd’s own Chief Operations Officer, Libby Isaacson, on winning her age group in the 2015 Washington Trust Family Turkey Trot 5k & Youth Run in Pawtucket this Thanksgiving!
Libby has been running since 1980, with her first race being a 10K in Providence. This year was the third time Libby’s family participated in the Turkey Trot.
“I love doing the Turkey Trot because I run it with my daughters, brothers, sisters-in-law, as well as my niece, nephew, and their various boyfriends and girlfriends,” Libby says. “We like doing something outdoors and active before the Thanksgiving meal.”
This isn’t Libby’s first win, however she says “It was my birthday, so it was my first day in my new age group” making it her first win in that group.
Libby runs several times a week–typically five miles–and occasionally does speedwork. She loves to run because not only is it great exercise and good for her health, but she also loves the camaraderie amongst fellow runners. “I mostly run with others and not alone,” she says.
Her advice for new runners is to intersperse running with walk breaks. “Start by only running for a few minutes,” she says. She also recommends a step-by-step guide for beginners, such as C25K: The Couch to 5k Beginner Running Program.
