Spooky Halloween Happenings Around Rhode Island

Pumpkins, ghouls, and candy - oh my! This year, there's tons to do for all ages in our state and in nearby Southeastern Massachusetts. Regardless of your age or fear tolerance, there's something for everyone! Like a good scare? Head to one of the many haunted attractions that are sure to give you chills. Into something more for the kids or faint of heart? We have plenty of family friendly suggestions like overnights at the zoo or costume parades. Check out our full list, and happy haunting!

October 2 - October 30 (Weekends): Highland Farm, South Kingstown

  Each year during the Halloween season, Highland Farm in South Kingstown transforms its 30-acres of land into the Trails to Terror. In its 19th year, this event has two attractions: Delamorte’s Haunted Hayride and a walkthrough Forest of Fear. Tickets start at $13. October 2 - October 30 (Fridays & Saturdays, 6:30PM-9PM): Slater Memorial Park, Pawtucket

The Slater Park Haunted Tunnel benefits the farm animals at the Park’s Dagget Farm each year. The 200ft concrete tunnel features nine rooms individually themed around various fears. The farm also has an industrial corn maze, a pumpkin patch and a spooky cemetery. Tickets are $8 each and the Tunnel is recommended for people over 10 years of age. RR 1A, Pawtucket, RI

October 2 - October 21 (Fridays & Saturdays, 7PM-10PM): Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA

Each year in the woods at Seekonk Speedway, guests go through the run-down buildings of Fear Town. Run through the trails as monsters come at you and try to make you a permanent resident of their woods! Tickets start at $12 and although there are no age restrictions, guests under the age of 12 are not recommended. 1710 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA

October 17 - October 31: Historic Wickford Village, North Kingstown 

Wickford Village will host a week and a half of Halloween-themed free family friendly events including music, pumpkin decorating, a costume parade, scarecrows, haunted Wickford walking tour, trick or treating and more! Brown Street/ Main and W. Main Wickford Village, North Kingstown, RI

October 24 (5-9pm): The Steel Yard, Providence

The 10th Annual Halloween Iron Pour attracts over 1,000 people each year including artists, fabricators, family and friends with their sparky performance of pouring over 2,500 of molten iron with a tilt furnace.   Also at the event is local music and food. $10; children under 5 are free

October 24 & October 31 (6PM-10AM): Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence

Spend a spooky, family-friendly night at the zoo full of jack-o-lanterns and creepy crawly creatures! At Boo at the Zoo Family Overnights, staff will bust myths about misunderstood creepy crawlers and you’ll get free admission to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI

October 24 & 25: Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence

Throughout the month of October, visitors can visit the Spooky Zoo during the day and take part in fun Fall activities like trick-or-treating, feeding pumpkin treats to the animals, pumpkin carving demonstrations, games, music, creepy crawly creature encounters, costumed characters, and more. 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI

October 30 (7:30PM-12AM): Providence Public Library, Providence

Come solve the Mystery of the Eternal Masquerade at the library! The 2nd annual Mysterium event is a one-of-a-kind Halloween odyssey with captivating performances, delicious food and drink, and plenty of wonder. The event is presented by TEN31 Productions and is sure to engross you into the story! Purchase tickets starting at $100 on the event website. 225 Washington Street, Providence, RI

October 30 (8PM-11PM): The Dancing Feeling, Warwick

  Get your Halloween groove on at the Halloween Ballroom Dance. Wear your costumes and if you’re the best one you’ll get a prize! General admission tickets are $12–studio members pay $10 and college students with an ID pay $7. 2429 Post Road, Warwick, RI

October 30 (6PM): Frosty Drew Observatory, Charlestown

Join the Frosty Drew Astronomers for a night of spooky viewing to celebrate astronomy and Halloween. The original Orson Wells radio broadcast of “The War of The Worlds” will play and there will be plenty of candy. Come down to the Providence Children’s Museum on Halloween for their annual Boo Bash! The event features fun arts and crafts, games, mad scientists, and more! 100 South Street, Providence, RI 

October 31 (11AM-5PM): Roger Williams Park Carousel Village, Providence

Head to the Roger Williams Park Zoo’s Carousel Village UnBOOlievable Festival to celebrate its first ever party in the park! Come in costume and visit a variety of vendors including crafters, artists, farmers, musicians, and more. Food trucks and beer gardens will be there as well. Admission to the event is free, but you have to pay to ride the carousel. 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI 

October 31 (10AM-1PM): The Temple to Music at Roger Williams Park, Providence

Start your Halloween off walking for a cause at the 2015 Big Halloween Hike to Support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State. Participants will hike 3.1 miles through Roger Williams Park and have free family activities. Friendly pets are welcome! 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI 

October 31 (8PM): Grand Rose Ballroom, Seekonk, MA

Wear your best costume and enjoy some live music by What Matters and passed hors d’oeuvers at the Haunted Ballroom! Tickets are $25. 940 Fall River Ave, Seekonk, MA
