Best Walking Trails in Rhode Island

Although Rhode Island is the smallest state, it has some of the most beautiful scenery in New England year-round, so we found it appropriate to help you "Discover Beautiful Rhode Island" with a list of our favorite walking trails throughout the state, as well as in nearby Southeastern Massachusetts. East Side of Providence blackstone boulevard walking path The Blackstone Boulevard Walking Path on the East Side of Providence is a 1.6 mile long, 100 foot wide median between two roads that contain both car and bicycle lanes. The Boulevard is a popular destination for walkers and runners alike who enjoy the gorgeous scenery.  The beautiful park is full of foliage due to a partnership with the Parks Department, allowing over 300 trees and shrubs to be planted and for the gardens to be maintained.   Providence Temple to Music at Roger Williams Park The Roger Williams Park  in Providence contains 435 acres of land with over 100 acres of ponds. The park, which is adjacent to the Roger Williams Park Zoo, includes lush foliage and the famous Rose Garden. The site attracts over 1.5 million visitors a year and is a popular location for walk-a-thons and music festivals.   East Bay Colt_state_park Colt State Park on Hope Street in Bristol offers 464 acres of land with breathtaking shoreline views and four miles of walking and biking paths. The park contains beautifully manicured lawns with flowering bushes and lush trees. Park goers can enjoy the land year round in America's most patriotic town.   West Bay

Goddard Memorial State Park  in Warwick is Rhode Island's most popular metropolitan park. There are miles of trails throughout the grounds–some which go alongside the water. The park also has trails used for biking and horseback riding.   Block Island IMG_9392 The 10 square miles of Block Island is home to the Greenway Trails–a 28 mile trail system constructed and maintained by The Nature Conservancy. The trails go through diverse areas of the island and include a variety of wildlife and plants. 43% of the Island is protected and has some breathtaking scenery.   South County  Beaver River Trail - Richmond The Beaver River Preserve features a one-mile loop leading through the preserve's scenic grounds and along the pristine Beaver River. A second path off the loop will take you to another section of the river where you will pass a Colonial-era grist mill. This area is a breeding ground for the Ringed Boghaunter dragonfly, while an array of birds and wildlife, including beavers, are always present. Northern RI North South Trail The North-South Trail is a 77-mile trail that begins in Charlestown and ends at the Massachusetts border in Burrillville. The trail runs through beautiful scenery from lakes to beaches and farmland to woods.   Newport County 800px-Newport_shoreline_of_Easton_Bay_looking_south_from_cliffside_overlook_at_east_end_of_Narragansett_Ave Newport's Cliff Walk is one of Rhode Island's most famous attractions, offering 3.5 miles of gorgeous shoreline and views of the historic Newport mansions. What makes this trail so unique is that it is a  National Recreation Trail in a National Historic District. Enjoy the flowers, the fresh air, and the beaches while strolling through a piece of history.   Southeastern Massachusetts Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary The Attleboro Springs Wildlife Sanctuary in Massachusetts offers three miles of trails over 117 acres of land. The scenery is beautiful and provides a peaceful place for mindful meditation. Half a mile of trail is a fully rope-guided universally accessible Reflection Trail, which features interpretation options such as audio tours, large print, and Braille.
