Rhode Island's own City by the Sea was featured on the Today Show this week as part of a segment ranking the country's top holiday getaway destinations. Senior Editor at Travel + Leisure Magazine, Jackie Gifford, told the Today Show's Willie Geist and Tamron Hall that the city was voted one of the best places to celebrate Christmas in America by Travel + Leisure readers. The getaway deal Gifford highlights is the "nautical winter wonderland" at the Hyatt Regency Newport. "They ask people to decorate their homes and restaurants with white christmas lights to conjure up that old-fashioned candlelit vibe," says Gifford.
