Residential Properties Ltd. is proud to have sponsored Family Service of Rhode Island’s 10th Annual Brighter Futures Award Luncheon held on Thursday, October 30th at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Family Service of Rhode Island is a non-profit organization that provides many services to help Rhode Island individuals and families in need. Their mission is to “respond creatively to the unmet needs of individuals, families and the community so that people are able to live independently, advocate for themselves, and better their own lives.” The organization is run by volunteers and relies on fund raising such as the Brighter Future Award Luncheon. Every year, the organization honors an individual or organization that has made a difference in the lives of Rhode Island children. The recipient of the 2014 Brighter Futures Award was Senator M. Teresa Paiva Weed, the President of the Rhode Island Senate. Since being elected in 2009, Senator Paiva Weed has been a pioneer in reforming the child welfare system in the state and makes providing compassionate, high quality care for the community a priority.
