Starting this Saturday, July 12th, Kennedy Plaza will be going through major renovations which could last for more than six months. The objective of the redesign is to create a social space that could host outdoor events, such as farmer's markets and festivals, while also serving as the initial step of a larger plan to expand the city's mass transit network. The project will include replacing the existing bus shelters and adding new screens providing up-to-date arrival information for passengers. The existing Kennedy Plaza bus stops will be moved to the edges of the park on the surrounding streets. To help clear up any confusion passengers may experience, RIPTA employees will be in the plaza to hand out informational pamphlets, while the customer service booth will also remain open.
