The Providence Preservation Society (PPS) will be hosting its 35th Annual Festival of Historic Houses next month, running from June 13-15. Homeowners will be welcoming visitors to tour their exclusive residences and private gardens, showcasing unique architectural styles from the mid 1800s to mid 1900s. As a PPS Partner in Preservation, Residential Properties Ltd. proudly supports the organization and its mission to improve the quality of life in the city of Providence through historic preservation and the enhancement of the built environment. Kick off the weekend with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at a ticketed PPS fundraising cocktail party held at the Joseph Cooke House on Hope Street. Saturday’s event starts at 10:00 am, opening an array of houses in the College Hill neighborhood, located between Brown University and Fox Point. The tour will include homes of many 19th century professionals, including captains, seamen, and merchants, along with the townhouse of a Rhode Island Governor. The festival continues on Sunday at noon, showcasing the Pearl Street Lofts on the edge of Providence's South Side. Built in the 1800s as an industrial mill complex, this historic building has been converted into live, work and retail space, including 55 residential and commercial units. As an extension to the festival, KITE Architects will be hosting an open house from 3:00 - 6:00pm at their office located in the Pearl Street Lofts. Tickets are limited, and are on sale now. Tickets purchased in advance are $35 per day for PPS members and $40 per day for non-members, while advance two-day tickets are $75. Day-of tickets can be purchased for $45, while the Friday evening cocktail event is priced at $125. For more information on the festival, please call PPS at 401-831-7440, or email info@ppsri.org.
