Residential Properties Ltd. Sales Associates Sandra Soares and Janice Geddes are gearing up for another busy season as members of Woonsocket's Adopt-A-Family, Inc. Soares, the organization's Executive Director, and Geddes, a long time member of the Board of Directors, help fulfill the holiday wishes of thousands of local underprivileged children each year. In 2012 alone, Adopt-A-Family provided gifts for over 2,100 children. With that said, the organization realizes that none of this would be possible without the generosity of its donors. "Not everyone wants to write a check," says Soares. "Even though all charities need money, we also need people to be involved." Recently, Adopt-A-Family received the following response after thanking one of its donors for their contribution.
"Trust me - as soon as I received your email, I was filled the the meaning of Christmas. My family and I have been involved in the Woonsocket Adopt-A-Family for over 10 years. We are all in agreement that our participation in your program is what keeps our perspective for this holiday. It's our pleasure to participate." In this way, the organization helps brighten the holidays not only for those in need, but for all who participate and are involved with its mission.
"We hear that same sentiment over and over again," explains Soares. "We have always believed we serve two sides of the community; the obvious being the families in need but also people who want to DO something, often something personal."
