Local REALTORS® from throughout Rhode Island joined together this past Sunday to host the 3rd Annual Home Run 5K Run/Walk to benefit Habitat For Humanity. The event kicked-off at the Quonset O Club starting with an 8:00 am registration, followed by the start of the race at 10:00 am, and the 1K Kids Dash at 11:00 am. “It was a picture perfect day for the race,” exclaimed Residential Properties Ltd. Sales Associate, Mary Ann Lisi, who finished first among her age group. “The sun was shining and not a cloud in the sky.”

Professionally scored and timed by Spitler Race Management, the race followed a course across Mainsail Drive, down Roger Williams Way and to the Quonset Beach, before then turning back up Roger Williams Way, across Conway Avenue, up Cripe Street, and finally finishing where it all started at the Quonset O Club. “To be honest, I wish we had a few clouds or that they started the race earlier in the day,” said Lisi. “There was not much shade along the way, so full sunshine was hard to take for over three miles.” Following the race, the participants enjoyed a free barbecue and refreshments, while results were announced. Cash prizes were awarded to the top three overall male and female runners, while additional prizes were given to the winners of each age category, including RPL’s own Mary Ann Lisi.

However, all of the participants were winners in their collective effort to support Habitat For Humanity in its mission to ensure that every man, woman and child has a decent, safe and affordable place to live. The organization utilizes volunteer labor and donations to build and repair homes all across the world. “I try to help Habitat for Humanity whenever I can,” said Lisi. “I think it is an amazing organization and I love to run, so it is a perfect win-win for me.”
