You would detail your car if you were going to sell it, and you should ‘detail’ your house too, that is the simple   genius behind home staging. Experts know that a properly priced, well prepared home will sell for the best price and in less time than competing houses. Staging neutralizes and removes visual clutter creating an environment that is pleasing to the broadest range of buyers. This week Steve and I had a great conversation with Jeff Lima from our Providence office, Jeff is a staging specialist and one of the great tools in our marketing arsenal that give Residential Properties' sellers an advantage. Jeff has been buying and selling homes for over 20 years and without even realizing it, has always been staging them. Today, Jeff offers his expert advice  exclusively  to   Residential Properties clients and   his expert eye has helped scores of   homeowners and we can actually track the advantage that staging makes in reduced days on market and higher sale prices.   One of Jeff’s finest efforts to date was a property that had been on the market for over 500 days. Once it was properly staged and re-listed it sold in about three weeks. The   buyers   actually had    looked at the home   previously and passed it over.

This week’s Real Estate Insight: Selling your house can be a difficult and emotional time if you don't have the proper mindset.   If you look at your property as your home and not as a product to be packaged, you won’t see what needs to be done, or be willing to make the changes necessary. Staging is a great way to detach yourself emotionally and get your house sold in the shortest time for the most money.
