RPL Offices Help to Brighten the Holidays

Embracing the true spirit of the season, Residential Properties Ltd. and its staff have put forth a concerted effort to make the holidays a little brighter for some of those in need. Contributing to Adopt-A-Family, Inc., Crossroads Rhode Island, The Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale, Family Services of Rhode Island, The Salvation Army, TAPIN, and the Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties, Residential Properties was able to help provide gifts, food, clothing, and shelter to some of those who are less fortunate. The members of the Cumberland branch made large contributions of their time, effort, and funds to Adopt-A-Family, Inc. of Woonsocket. Leading the charge were sales associates Sandy Soares and Janice Geddes who are both on the board of directors for the organization. Soares serves as the Executive Director for Adopt-A-Family which helped provide presents to over 1,000 families and nearly 2,100 children this year. In over one week, they collected between 3,000-5,000 bags of gifts, as well as roughly 500 bicycles, from donors across the country. The Barrington office raised hundreds of dollars for the TAPIN organization, which stands for Touch A Person In Need. They also sponsored two families as part of the Women’s Resource Center of Newport & Bristol Counties’ Adopt-A-Family program, helping to meet the holiday needs of victims of domestic violence and their children. On top of this, the office also assembled gift bags and supplies to send to the troops in Afghanistan. As they have done for many years, the staff at the Providence office participated in The Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family program. Assisting a family of five with three girls ages eight, nine, and 10, the Providence branch provided a slew of gifts, including dolls, winter coats, toys, hats, scarves, mittens, and other personal items. The office also gave the family a gift card to Stop & Stop for holiday meals, while also contributing five additional gift cards for other families in need. “It always gives us great pleasure to do this at the holidays,” exclaims Broker Associate Sandy Conca who helped organize the office’s efforts. In East Greenwich, members of the office were generous enough to lend their help to a young mother (age 18) and her one-year-old son, Anthony. The branch donated several items to the family such as a car seat, clothes, stuffed animals, grocery store gift cards, and more. The staff at the Narragansett office got in the spirit by adopting a family through the Family Services of Rhode Island, helping to provide gifts, clothes, and other items. The staff also made a generous monetary contribution to the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale to assist in its mission of improving the quality of life for individuals and families in need. So often we get wrapped up in our busy lives and forget how the slightest gesture can make a difference in the lives of others, or as Barrington sales associate Joan Crocker reminds us, “One small offer of kindness can help so many.”
