If you’re a Rhode Islander, chances are you’ve been to the Arcadia Management Area in Exeter. With 14,000 forested acres, this is the ultimate spot if you’re looking to “get away from it all” for a few hours...or a few days. Although I’ve only had the pleasure of using the facility for some top notch hiking, it is also a popular destination for fishing, boating, mountain biking, camping, and horseback riding. The Wood River, which flows through the heart of the place, is stocked with trout and offers some of the best freshwater fishing in the state. If canoeing and kayaking are more your speed, the park offers multiple venues for both novices and experts. Winding country roads, trees galore, historic cottages, lily-padded ponds—there’s a reason why Exeter is one of the most beloved areas in the state. And the Arcadia Management Area, with its babbling brooks, butterflies, and picnic areas, is the perfect destination if you need a vacation right here in Rhode Island. So if you haven’t been there yet...check it out! Instagram Photos:
