For the eleventh year, the Providence Rotary Club is holding their annual fund raising event the street painting festival. This year the venue is the Bank of America Skating Center right next to Burnside Park. This will provide a nice smooth surface for the artist. The Rotary is hoping that many more people will attend this year's event, and the weather is expected to be cooperative. There is a pool of over $3,000 for prizes to the various artists. Residential Properties has sponsored a square again this year and Cumberland Manager, Holly Applegate, made an appearance with local street painting artist Mike MaCauley on the Rhode Show to promote the event. Holly and relocation director, Elizabeth Messier, are members of the Providence Rotary Club. The event is this Saturday, October 2nd, starting at 10:00 am and lasting into the late afternoon. Several restaurants have signed up to provide food preparations for sampling. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation makes grants each year to organizations that enrich the lives of underprivileged children in and around Providence.
