SoundSession is a week-long summer music festival which began on July 5th and will go through July 11th. The multi-stage festival presents acts that represent a mix of genres and were chosen based on the criteria of the music or performer's ability excite, educate, surprise and inspire a crowd, according to Donald King, Executive/Artistic Director for Black Repertory Company who produces the festival in collaboration with the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism. Participating venues include Xxodus Caf鬠, Kennedy Plaza, Burnside Park, Waterplace Park, AS220, Ball's Sports Bar, The Blackstone, Firehouse 13, Jerky's, Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel, McFadden's, Sidebar Bistro, The Spot on Thayer, Tazza, and more.
