Get it in shape if you need to. 2: Financing: Get Pre-Approved so you know what you can afford and sellers will see you are a serious Buyer. Work with a reputable Mortgage Broker! 3: Understand Taxes: Tax savings can put you into a more expensive home than you think you can afford. 4: Save: You'll need money for a down payment, closing costs, moving and other expenses. Put off trips and luxuries until after you're in your new home. 5: Different financial options: Learn which options are open to you. Consider FHA, VA, and State-backed loan programs.
