If so, would you like to declare independence from your Landlord? My guest this week was Cathleen Pannicia, Director of Homeownership at Rhode Island Housing. We talked about what they can offer to first time homeowners. As the state's principal housing agency, RI Housing offers dozens of housing programs for low and moderate income Rhode [...]

This week Cherie and I had the honor of speaking with my friend Nicolas Retsinas, the Director of Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies. You may know him as the former Executive Director of the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation from 1987 to 1993. Nicolas P. Retsinas was appointed Director of Harvard [...]

More home owners entered the foreclosure process during the first three months of 2007 than the final quarter of 2006, according to a report by the Mortgage Bankers Association. The MBA’s Chief Economist Doug Duncan predicts that delinquencies would continue to rise, peaking later this year. The percentage of loans in foreclosure would be [...]

This week Cherie and I were in the studio talking about marketing your home. If your house is on the market, and you wonder why your Realtor is not selling it, let me tell you this; price and condition dictate the sale, if it is not in great condition, then that should be reflected in the price. Peter's phone has been ringing more and more lately and that's not surprising to me. According to The National Association of Home Builders (NAHAB) more and more of  America's [...]

This week we had Ted Sanderson, the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission, to talk about "The 22nd Annual Historic Preservation Conference" being held on April 14, 2007. Which is making the case for adaptive reuse as a fundamentally green strategy. A community can benefit in many ways from [...]

This week Rich and Cherie had Steven Roberts, owner of Full Disclosure Home Inspections. Home inspections have become an integral part of most real estate transactions. 15 years ago, barely 10% of home sales involved home inspections, in 2006, The National Association of Realtor's reported that 77% of all homebuyers obtained a home [...]
