Charlestown

The unusually large amount of conservation and recreation land in Charlestown reflects the amount of important natural resources in the town. Burlingame State Park, Ninigret Wildlife Refuge, Ninigret Park and East Beach comprise approximately 20 percent of the total land area of the town and protected wetlands, fresh and salt ponds and a barrier beach system. Coastal ponds, fronted by barrier beaches, provide a recreational resource for the state as well as the town, attracting visitors and serving as a focal point for development.

A popular place for a summer cottage, condominiums are also available.

Charlestown is made up of the villages of: Burdickville, Carolina, Cross Mill, Kenyon, Quonochontaug, Shannock, Watchaug and Wood River Junction.

Exeter

Exeter is primarily a rural community with an elegant and charming countryside, with wooded hills, clear streams and lakes, plus a multitude of wild life makes this a very desirable spot for a country home. In fact, several old homes and farms still exist in Exeter giving the town a quaintness all its own.

Exeter is made up of the villages of Arcadia, Austin, Black Plain, Fisherville, Lewis City, Liberty, Millville.

Hopkinton

Hopkinton is a rural town with fresh water fishing facilities, parks and numerous campgrounds. Hopkinton is one of the popular vacation areas of southern Rhode Island and convenient to miles of ocean front beaches.

Hopkinton is made up of the villages of: Alton, Ashaway, Barberville, Bethel, Brightman Hill, Burdickville, Canonchet, Centerville, Champlin Hill, Hope Valley, Locustville, Moscow, Potter Hill, Rockville, Woodville, Wyoming, Yawgoog.

Narragansett

Narragansett is a resort community with the amenities of year-round living. It is known for its great outdoor environment with pristine beaches, sport fishing and outdoor activities. Narragansett is known for its spectacular beaches that include the Town Beach, Scarborough State Beach, the Roger Wheeler State Beach and the private Dunes Club.

Housing options range from estates to cottages and luxury condominiums and just about everything in between.

Narragansett is comprised of several neighborhoods and villages: Anawan Cliffs, Bonnet Shores, Cedar Point, Galilee, Great Island, Jerusalem, Narragansett Pier, Point Judith, Sand Hill Cove, Salt Pond, Saunderstown (shared with North Kingstown), and Scarborough.

New Shoreham, Block Island

Block Island is located in the Atlantic Ocean about 13 miles south of RI and is about 10 square miles. The Nature Conservancy named Block Island as one of twelve sites in its list of "The Last Great Places" in the Western Hemisphere.

Popular for summer homes, the island is known for excellent bicycling, hiking, sailing, fishing and beaches.

The only town on the island is New Shoreham. And daily ferry service is available between the island and Point Judith, Newport and Providence. Ferries also sail from New London, Connecticut and Montauk, New York. There is a small airport with both scheduled flights and a charter service.

North Kingstown

North Kingstown is a small town on the west side of Narragansett Bay. Its most well known village is Wickford with its historic center, beautiful harbor and collection of preserved 18th century homes. North Kingstown also has great beaches and boating and is the birthplace of America's foremost portrait painter, Gilbert Stuart.

In addition to the historic homes, there are also farms, condominiums and more modern homes.

North Kingstown is comprised of several villages: Allenton, Davisville, Fox Island, Hamilton, Plum Beach, Poplar Point, Quidnessett, Quonset, Saunderstown (also Narragansett), Slocum, Wickford and Wild Goose Point.

Richmond

Richmond is a rural area. In fact, a large portion of the town (about 60 percent) is undeveloped woodland. Points of interest in Richmond include Arcadia State Park and the state-operated Fish Cultural Station where the primary species such as Northern Pike and Atlantic Shad have been introduced to New England waters.

Richmond is made up of the villages of: Alton, Arcadia, Carolina, Elmhurst, Hillsdale, Kenyon, Shannock, Usequepaug, Wood River Junction, Woodville, Wyoming.

South Kingstown

South Kingstown is strategically located at the crossroads of major transportation networks, but maintains a good balance between the fast-pace of urban life and the close-knit social fabric of a suburban neighborhood. There is an excellent school system and the town is renowned for its high levels of community participation.

Single family homes, many with large lots are the norm.

South Kingstown is comprised of several villages: Green Hill, Indian Lake Shore, Kingston, Matunuck, Middlebridge, Peace Dale, Perryville, Snug Harbor, Tower Hill, Usquepaugh, Wakefield and West Kingston.

Westerly

Known for its spectacular beaches, Westerly is a year-round community that sees its population almost double in the summer. Located in the southwestern corner of the state, the town has the atmosphere of an old New England village. The location of Watch Hill — almost surrounded by the ocean and bay with beautiful formation of rocks and sand beaches — contributes to its beauty. Watch Hill is also known for its fantastic beaches and summer cottages - along with the world-renowned Misquamicut Club. The winds bring in the cool bracing sea air and the temperature in the summer is rarely oppressive. Rowing, swimming, ocean sailing, fishing and hiking make this a very appealing area.

The houses are classic and many have water views and considerable land. Some neighborhoods look like an old New England fishing community with antique colonial and Queen Anne style homes and tree-lined streets. A few condominium developments have been built offering another alternative.

Westerly consists of a number of small villages: Avondale, Bradford, Misquamicut, Pleasant Hill, Potter Hill, Sandy Point, Shelter Harbor, Watch Hill, Weekapaug, and Winnapaug.
