Residential Properties Ltd. is proud to announce that Sales Associate Martha Lapierre has rejoined the company as a member of their Cumberland Office. Martha is a native Rhode Islander who has worked in all areas of the real estate industry for over 25 years. Martha recently sat down with us to discuss her recent return to the Ocean State and reuniting with Residential Properties.
What was it that drew you back to Rhode Island?
First and foremost, it was my family and friends, but it was also all the other people that live here and help to create our unique Rhode Island & New England culture. Being raised in Lincoln and Cumberland, I appreciate the ability to explore our beautiful coastline, hike our hilly woodlands and scenic bike paths, or enjoy some of the best culinary experiences in the country.
After working for other companies, what sets RPL apart and makes it such a unique brokerage?
I’d say the personal interest, caring, and connection of the people who work for RPL is very different. The level of cooperation and consideration between agents elevates your success in the field. It’s great having the ability to reach out to anyone, from the CEO to the COO to the managers and to the wonderful administrators. Immediate attention and response from within is unsurpassed and seldom exists in other agencies. Your success as an agent is their success as a company.
In what ways, if any, did living and working in another state make you a better Realtor?
Creating a new client base and real estate career in another state takes ingenuity, confidence, perseverance and tapping into all the experience you’ve acquired in the field and applying that to a new environment. Starting a career in a new area required me to utilize all the tools and experience I’ve acquired over the years.
What are you excited about most going forward?
After being away for three years and working for a franchise agency, I am thrilled to find that RPL has maintained the highest level of integrity that I remember. I appreciate that the company is a proponent in keeping up and educating its agents in the importance of technology and digital marketing. I am also very excited to rejoin my community and help our friends, neighbors, and new acquaintances achieve their real estate goals.
What are some of your future goals as a member of Residential Properties?
Creating a happy experience while meeting my client’s highest expectations is always my goal.
Do you have any additional comments regarding your recent return, our company, or the real estate industry in general?
I am happy to be back with my RPL family and living in RI with the quality of support, agents and management of Residential Properties Ltd.

Residential Properties Ltd. Sales Associate Jim DeRentis has been featured on the cover of the latest issue of Top Agent Magazine. DeRentis is the chair of the Providence Redevelopment Authority and is also co-founder of Markham + DeRentis Associates, listed on the Real Trends America’s Best Real Estate Agents report for each of the past two years.
The feature article discusses how DeRentis first got into real estate after 25 years in the banking industry, including 15 years as chief business officer of a retail banking network. “I’ve always been involved in the industry from both a development and financing perspective,” he admits. “Real estate was a career path that just felt natural to me.”
The article also expounds upon DeRentis’ business philosophy and how he approaches each of his listings. He understands what a major life decision any real estate transaction can be for his clients and treats each one accordingly. “I strive to give each property the attention to detail it truly deserves,” DeRentis is quoted as saying. “For most people, this is the biggest asset they have – their biggest investment – and as such, these properties deserve to be handled with a business-level approach.”
As one of the top agents in the state, DeRentis has enjoyed continued success this year, recently closing on the $4,000,000 sale of the William E. and Clara A. Bridgham Estate, one of the last intact family estates on the historic East Side of Providence.
