Living in the smallest state at times has its perks. Rhode Island has such a strong sense of community statewide, especially during the summer months when the weather’s nice. For example, local farmers and artisans get together weekly–and sometimes twice a week–to share their produce and talents with the communities of the Ocean State. I put together a few great farmers markets around the state, and be sure to check out the ones in your area and beyond!

Providence & The East Side

Cranston – The Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market runs from May 9th to October 31st on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. The market in the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet Parking Lot is currently in its 13th season! The market has an array of vendors as well as spaces for community groups and events. An event calendar and list of vendors can be found on their website.

The East Side – The Hope Street Farmers Market is a farmer run co-op that sells home grown or made produce, baked goods, meats, seafoods, and much more. The farmers market runs twice a week on Wednesday afternoons from 3-6pm and Saturday mornings 9am-1pm. Head down to Lippitt Park for some great local goods, and check online to see who will be there!

East Bay

Bristol – Right off of Metacom Ave in the South Pasture of Mount Hope Farm is a year round Farmers Market held every Saturday–rain or shine–from 9am-1pm. The market is fun for the whole family and you can walk the beautiful grounds and say “hello” to the animals after shopping! For more information, check out the Mount Hope Farmers Market website.

Barrington – Every Wednesday from May to the end of October from 2-6pm, Haines State Park holds a market with venders from all over the state. Every week is different, so check the schedule before visiting to see what’s going to be there.

West Bay

Coventry – If you’re looking for organic produce, look no further than the Ezekiel Potter Homestead. The market is open four days a week with great selections of local produce. Hours can be found on their website.

Warwick – From the beginning of May to the end of October, Goddard State Park hosts a farmers market every Friday from 9am-1pm. Venders from all over the state take part in the market, and are listed on the market’s website.

Newport County

Jamestown – At the Fort Getty Pavillion from the end of June to the end of August, a farmers market is held rain or shine every Monday from 4-7pm. The market has local produce, meats, crafts, and artwork from a variety of vendors.

Aquidneck Island – The Aquidneck Growers’ Market runs three farmers markets on the Island during both the summer and winter seasons. The summer markets are located at the Newport Vineyard & Winery in Middletown on Saturdays 9am-1pm and on Memorial Boulevard in Newport on Wednesdays from 2-6pm. More information on vendors and locations, visit the Acquidneck Growers’ Market website.

South County

Block Island – Block Island has two farmers markets a week–one in the Manisses Parking Lot on Wednesdays 9-11:30am from June 11th-September 7th and in Negus Park every Saturday 9-11:30am from June 11th-October 12th. Both markets are held rain or shine! Markets offer locally produced items like honey, jelly, pasta, sauces as well as baked goods, arts and crafts.
