The Greene | Sweeney Team of Residential Properties Ltd. is pleased to present the historic Thomas L. Halsey House, located at 140 Prospect Street on The East Side of Providence, for the asking price of $4,500,000.

This elegant Federal-style brick mansion is most famously known as the basis for the home of the title character in H.P. Lovecraft’s short novel “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.”

Located atop College Hill, the home was originally built circa 1800 by Colonel Thomas Lloyd Halsey (1751-1838), a prosperous local shipping merchant and French consular agent in Rhode Island during the Revolutionary War. Since that time, this 10,822-square-foot mansion has been thoughtfully renovated to include nine beautiful apartments featuring modern, high-end amenities and conveniences. A 10th unit can be found in the historic 1,400 square foot single-level carriage house in the rear of the property.

Situated on a lush green acre lot, the land at the rear of the estate can be subdivided for an additional residence, offering a wonderful opportunity for a high-end rental investment or a luxury condominium development.

For more information on this unique, once-in-a-lifetime offering, interested buyers can view the full photos, floor plans, and more at 140ProspectStreet.com or by visiting the RPL Property Details Page.

The listing agents, Kira Greene and Michael J. Sweeney, joined forces in 2018 to create the Greene I Sweeney team and have quickly become the #1 East Side Sales Team. Greene was named to the 2018 Real Trends List of “America’s Best Real Estate Professionals” while also earning the Circle of Sales Excellence Platinum Plus Award. Sweeney is a Circle of Excellence Gold award winner.
