Now in its 10th year of existence, the RPL Photo Contest has always served as the perfect vehicle for capturing the essence of our beautiful state as we enjoy the annual procession of the seasons. The 2017 RPL Winter Photo Contest continued this legacy, as our agents entered a terrific collection of submissions showcasing familiar local destinations covered by a blanket of freshly fallen snow.

As always, I’d like to thank everyone who made this season’s contest such a success, including everyone who entered a submission, each of our six finalists, and most of all, our friends on Facebook who took the time to submit their vote and share the contest with family and friends. With your help, this year’s winter contest was viewed by over 5,000 people, receiving 42 shares and a total of 364 votes.

While all of our finalists deserve praise, two particular photos separated themselves from the pack, each receiving over 115 votes. These two entries kept pace with each other throughout a busy weekend of public voting, but when the dust finally settled and all the votes were tallied, only one would emerge as the winner.

We’re proud to announce that the winner of the 2017 RPL Winter Photo Contest is India Point Sunset by Cumberland Sales Associate Kimberly Horvath. Kimberly’s photo captured snow covered trees and wintery docks set before a radiating pink and orange sunset reflecting off the waters of the Providence Harbor. Congratulations to Kimberly who will receive a free property video and website as her contest prize.

Infographic-January2017The Rhode Island Association of Realtors has just released its January 2017 sales statistics, reporting a strong start to the year for the Rhode Island housing market.

Single family sales increased by 21% compared to January 2016. However, at the same time, inventory continued to drop with 13.2% fewer single family homes hitting the market.

This increase in buyer activity paired with such a low inventory of homes has propelled demand, making this an excellent time to put your home on the market if you have been considering a move.

Other statistics worthy of note were condominium sales, which shot up 31.3% from this same time period last year. Multi-family home sales stayed consistent with the overall trend, rising 20% from January 2016. However, multi-family pending and were both down which hints at lower sales moving forward.

Providence Business News recently released its 2017 list of Residential Real Estate Companies in Rhode Island, and once again ranked Residential Properties Ltd. as the state’s number one company for both residences sold and overall sales volume during 2016.

After leading Rhode Island with 1,748 residences sold in 2015, RPL set a new company record in 2016 with a total of 1,886 residences sold – over 120 more sales than the next closest competitor. During a year in which the company celebrated its 35th anniversary, Residential Properties also set a new personal record with $789,000,000 in overall sales volume, compiling over $300,000,000 more than any other brokerage in the state.

“I’m bursting with pride,” exclaimed RPL President & CEO Sally Lapides. “Thank you to our amazing staff and managers, all of our outstanding real estate professionals who work as hard as anyone can imagine, and of course all of our loyal clients.”

This marks the second consecutive year that RPL has led the state in residences sold, while the company has also been ranked #1 in sales volume for no less than the past five years in a row.
As Rhode Island’s largest independently owned real estate company, Residential Properties Ltd. currently has over 180 agents located in five offices throughout the state, including Barrington, Cumberland, East Greenwich, Providence, and Narragansett. In addition to its local achievements, the company is also consistently ranked among the top 500 most successful real estate companies in the nation by both Real Trends and RIS Media.
